Pants Made in the USA

A good pair of pants should be able to last you a long time, but with the shift in manufacturing overseas during the last few decades, quality has definitely gone down. So, we set out to find the companies that are still making great pants right here in the USA. Below is all of our research, including both a full list of all the brands we found and some of our top recommendations.

Our Findings

Overall, we found a few dozen manufacturers who are still making pants in the USA. We selected seven companies from that list that we believe stand above the rest based on our testing and research. We split out all of our findings into a few categories for both men and women, which we detailed below. At the bottom of the article, you’ll find a full list of all the brands we found that are made in the USA as well as some popular pant brands that are not made in the USA. Let’s get into it.

Recommendations: Going Deeper

Below is a lot more details about each of our top picks, including what we liked and didn’t like about each one.

Men and Women – Variety

American Giant

American Giant is one of our favorite apparel brands that is made in the USA. They have several pant styles available for both men and women. For men, we really like the thier Dakota Straight jeans and Roughneck Pants (Mike has a pair of both and loves them). For women, their dress pants and jeans are great choices. American Giant also has track pants and joggers for something more casual (men’s and women’s).

Men’s Bottoms

Women’s Bottoms

Things we like:

  • Lots of style variety
  • Typically very comfortable
  • Thick, durable material with good stitching

Things we don’t like:

  • A bit pricier
  • Sizes can be a little varied, might need alterations

Men and Women – Most Affordable

All American Clothing Co.

All American Clothing Co. is a big storefront for a lot of USA made clothing manufacturers and one of their biggest advantages is their price point. All the pants for men and women in their store are at a really reasonable price and they offer a lot of styles. For men, they have twill pants, khakis, durable canvas pants, and more. For women, they don’t have quite as large of a selection to choose from, but you can still get some leggings or activewear pants for a reasonable price.

Things we like:

  • Affordable prices
  • Style variety for men
  • Durable materials
  • Reliable manufacturing partners

Things we don’t like:

  • Not a wide selection of pants for women

Men and Women – Activewear Pants

GORUCK

GORUCK is one of our favorite activewear brands made in the USA and their pants are awesome for men and women for working out or outdoor adventures. For the men, GORUCK offers a few different “weights” for their pants, which is basically just the thickness of the material. Their lightweight pants are great for hiking in mild weather because they are breathable, and their heavyweight pants are good if you need something warmer and thicker. Mike has a pair of the lightweight Simple Pants which are perfect for hikes. For women, GORUCK doesn’t have as many options – just their Indestructible Leggings, which perform just like they sound.

Men’s Bottoms

Women’s Bottoms

Things we like:

  • Durable construction
  • Great for active lifestyle
  • Breathable
  • Multiple thickness and style options

Things we don’t like:

  • Not a huge selection for women

Men – Khakis

Jack Donnelly

Jack Donnelly makes one thing and makes it incredibly well – a darn good pair of khakis. Their twill chinos offer the classic look that will last you much longer than any cheap pair of khakis made overseas. They come in four styles – relaxed, straight, tapered, and slim. Mike has a pair of the navy straight khakis and absolutely loves them. It looks like the non-khaki colors (green, slate, and navy) are on “last call” right now, so make sure to snag a pair soon if you want that color (we’ll reach out to them and see when they will be back in full stock). One last thing to note – these pants come unaltered, so you’ll want to make a stop by your local tailor to get them hemmed before wearing.

  • Stylish
  • Easy ordering process

Things we don’t like:

  • Limited color selection

Women – Work Pants

Red Ants Pants

Red Ants Pants makes really high quality work pants for women, all right here in the USA. They are headquartered in White Sulphur Springs, Montana and have a cut and sew facility in Seattle, Washington. Every pair of their work pants are made from 100% cotton canvas duck, a very durable material that can withstand the elements of any dirty job. They even have a “Get Stuff Done” (GSD) pant that has reinforced fabric in the knees and seat. Red Ants Pants has a straight and curvy cut with lots of waist and inseam size options, so you should be able to find a pair that fit you.

Things we like:

  • Built to last
  • Lots of size options
  • They also make shorts

Things we don’t like:

  • Not pre-shrunk

Women – Style

Salaam Clothing

Salaam Clothing is based in Vermont and making some great pants for both work and casual wear. The thing I really love about Salaam is their style and print variety – they have so many cool patterns to choose from in a lot of different styles like gaucho pants, leggings, palazzo pants, and a lot more. All of their pants are super comfortable too so you can wear them around all day. Salaam offers five sizes for most of their pant styles, so if you’re in between those sizes you may have to do a little altering to get them to fit just right.

  • Very soft and comfortable
  • Colorful patterns

Things we don’t like:

Women – Work Pants

Loup

If you need some pairs of pants for the office, Loup has you covered. Loup has a lot of styles to choose from and all are made in New York City. They have nearly 80 different styles to choose from (as of the last time I checked when writing this article) in their online store, so you should be able to find something that suits your style. Their Navy James Work Pant is featured in the image here, one of my personal favorite styles. Loup also makes jumpsuits, shorts, rompers, and other clothing too if you want to check those out.

Factors We Considered

Material Quality

The type of material (and the source, of course) can make or break a good pair of pants, and there is a lot to choose from. No matter if you choose cotton, canvas, or another material, the thickness of that material and the stitching that holds it together are both really important. For workwear and activewear, we looked for at least double stitching and thicker fabrics.

Style Selection

When it comes to any article of clothing, style is always subjective. So that’s why we looked for pant manufacturers that offered a wide variety of styles to choose from, so you can have some selection. A few of our top picks only specialize in a couple of styles (like khakis), but we tried to fill the gaps with other brands where we could.

Sizing

We looked for pants that offered a wide selection of sizes to choose from. Everyone is different and we wanted to make sure our top picks are inclusive for everyone. We also checked to see if their online sizing guides were true to the sizes that actually show up on your doorstep. In a couple of cases (like the American Giant Roughneck Pants), pants were a bit longer than expected, but for the most part, all of our top picks were true to size.

Price and Value

Of course, we want to make sure you are getting the best possible value for your dollar. So, we eliminated several brands from our top picks section where we felt like the price just didn’t live up to the quality of the pants. We still included those brands in our full research list though.

Pants Not Made in the USA

Here are some major brands that are not made in the USA. We’ll keep adding to this list over time.
