Everyone needs to build a decent foundation in their kitchen when they first start cooking, and this set from Nordic Ware provides that for you. This 7-piece cookware set gives you everything you need to get started at a price that is affordable for almost everyone. They make a great housewarming gift and wedding gift as well.
These non-stick pots and pans are the reason for our review, and here you’ll learn everything you need to know about them to decide if you should make a purchase or not.
About the Nordic Ware Restaurant 7-Piece Cookware Set
This cookware set comes with a 10-inch open skillet, 1.5 and 3-quart saucepans, and an 8-quart stockpot. Keep in mind that even though they call it a 7-piece cookware set, they include the lids as part of the pieces. Everything except the open skillet comes with a cover, so it’s technically only a 4-piece set.
These are pressure cast aluminum with a non-stick interior surface that has a nice dark finish. The concave bottom portion of the pan resists warping so it will sit flat on your electric or ceramic stovetop. The handles on these are riveted with comfort grips so you can hold onto them while you’re cooking, and they won’t slip from your hands.
Here you get six gauge aluminum, which makes it easy for heat to transfer throughout the entire pan. The bonus here is you never have to worry about your meat cooking evenly as long as the heat transfers appropriately.
A big concern with non-stick pans is the safety of the surface, but all of their cookware is NSF-certified for safety, and they come with a 20-year warranty, so you have nothing to worry about. If something goes wrong or they warp, you can send them back for a replacement.
Whether you’re cooking a huge meal for 20 people or a small dinner for two, you’ll find that the durability and functionality of this kitchenware set gets the job done.
Due to the non-stick material and rubber handles, these are not recommended for use in the oven.
About Nordic Ware
This company started producing cookware in 1946. Dotty, the determined wife of a World War II veteran, started the kitchenware company out of the basement of their house in Minnesota.
When they first started, they only had a few items, but 70 years later, they carry everything you could use in your kitchen, but they still do a majority of their production in their home state of Minnesota.
With all of that experience comes 70 years of innovation, and that is why you’re getting high-quality products for such a low price. The company now distributes these products internationally, and they even hold a spot in the Food History exhibit at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
What We Like Best
When you need a starter cookware set, one of the most important factors to keep in mind is simplicity. You want something that will allow you to learn how to cook new things and experiment, so having a non-stick pot and pan set is important.
The last thing you need to worry about is your fish and chicken sticking to the pan, but you won’t have that problem here. This set also does a great job of spreading heat evenly throughout the pan, which helps with sticking, but it also ensures that your meat always cooks properly to your desired temperature.
Once you finish, you can throw these right in the dishwasher. The set is easy to clean because the non-stick surface ensures that hard to clean ingredients like cheese and fat don’t get stuck to the pan. If you clean it while it’s still hot, they should wipe right off.
What We Don't Like
When you’re cooking with a large stockpot, you want to keep all that heat and steam in so you can cook the ingredients and preserve the delicious juices. We would like to see a bulkier lid on the stockpot because it would keep more of the moisture in.
If you’re new to the cooking game or you’re brushing up an old dog on some new tricks, you’ll want to check out this cookware set from Nordic Ware. The company has an excellent and long-standing reputation for producing high-quality products, and this set is no different.
The pans heat evenly, and ingredients do not stick, you can throw them right in the dishwasher when you’re done, and the stay-cool grips make cooking that much easier. All of these factors together provide you with an easy to use cookware set that gets the job done for cooks of all skill levels.
